Reconnect original files and folders
Reconnect the original file or folder, check changed files, and return to playback or source preparation.
Before you start
Locate the original files or folder on this device. The project stores an inventory, not a backup of the media. A file-input selection lasts only for this session; a stored native handle may still need permission again. You can read and edit stored subtitle text without reconnecting its media.
Reconnect the original source
Identify the missing scope
Read the warning and file path. Is one media file missing, or the whole folder? Text subtitles added to a file project are stored and need no reconnect. A matching filename alone does not prove you selected the original.
Reconnect the intended original
For a file use Reconnect file; for a folder use Reconnect directory and choose the original root. Grant the requested permission only for that source.
Without native folder access, synchronization and local writes may be unavailable. Use a file project or download fallback; browser permissions cannot recreate a missing original.
Review any detected changes
If a folder preview appears, check added, missing and replaced files before applying it. Cancel a wrong folder selection. To change a file intentionally, use replacement and review its sources afterwards.
Result
The missing-source or sync warning clears when the intended source and reviewed inventory are usable.

Check the result
Test the source-dependent action that failed, such as playback or extraction. If an operation still awaits local preparation, return to that operation and use its eligible Retry source action; reconnecting alone does not launch another operation.
If something goes wrong
If the original is lost, continue with saved subtitle assets. A different file needs deliberate replacement and possibly a new estimate. If permissions keep disappearing, inspect browser capabilities and browser storage settings.
